RYAN BRIDGE
– Composer, student at Oberlin University

Composer Ryan Bridge has been composing since he began his musical studies at the age of five, but his formal composition studies began as a student at Westminster Choir College in high school. He is currently enrolled at the Oberlin Conservatory where he studies with Lewis Nielson. His recent work has explored such topics as organic vs. exact repetition, radical dissimilarity, extreme complexity paired with extreme simplicity, and humor. Awards and honors include the award of "finalist" in the NJMEA Young Composer Competition and "honorable mention" in the Amadeus Choir composition competition. "rhsc! soie.tpixes," a guitar and violin duo, was premiered at the SoundSCAPE festival in Italy in July.  While on leave from the conservatory for the past year, Bridge has pursued lessons with several composers in the New York City area including Nicholas DeMaison and Jason Eckardt.
